Atlantic Coast Teaching of Psychology Conference (ACToP)

Call for Proposals

Submission Deadline: May 31, 2015

In addition to our keynote speakers Dr. Elizabeth Yost Hammer and Bryan Saville, and an invited panel on peer mentoring, the conference will consist of a variety of concurrent sessions and poster sessions. All conference attendees are encouraged to submit proposals for the concurrent sessions or poster presentations. Submissions should be about the teaching of psychology, and can include (but are not limited to) innovative teaching techniques, classroom demonstrations or activities, use of technology as a teaching tool, and assessment strategies. We strongly encourage proposals with empirical assessment of effectiveness. We are excited to add a session entitled "Interdisciplinary Techniques: Quality teaching that transcends disciplines". Instructors from all disciplines are invited to submit teaching techniques that could be adapted to a psychology classroom.

Concurrent sessions can include presentations in a variety of formats, including individual or group presentations given in the format of the author(s) choice, such as hands-on workshops, panel discussions, or interactive lectures. Poster presentations sessions will include multiple presenters displaying their work on easels. We ask presenters to provide handouts that summarize and/or supplement their presentations.

Proposals for concurrent sessions and poster sessions should be submitted here. Your submission should include:

  1. the presentation title
  2. authors names, affiliations and email addresses
  3. the preferred presentation format (i.e. workshop, discussion, lecture, poster, etc.)
  4. a 400 word summary of proposed presentation
  5. a 100 word or less abstract to appear in the conference program
